A Very Short Conversation with the Serpent
hi, i saw your site listed at babylonthegreatisfalling...i have 2
questions...
1) isn't the original word for rapture really 'catching away' or 'caught
up', the same word used to describe what happened to phillip after he
witnessed to the ethiopian unich?
2) what is the actual bible word for trinity, since the word trinity doesn't
appear in scripture?
thanks,
-----
Dear -----,
Thanks so much for your inquiry. Thought I would dash off a quick reply.
You ask questions that sound like answers. The Lord never cloaks His Word, it is plain and open for all to see. I believe Christians should do likewise. It would have been better to say: "I do not believe in the Rapture, because..." And: "I don't believe in the trinity, because...". Now, someone may say: "But wait, I did not SAY I don't believe in them". I would answer: "Yes you did, and you know you did." Only, the WAY it was said, takes me back to the Garden:
"Hath God said?" I answer: "Yes, God HAS said".
I am not going to get drawn into a debate on the Rapture. There is no debate. The Word of God, as interpreted by the HOLY SPIRIT, says there will be a catching away, Christ is returning for His Church. If we preach and teach error - we will answer directly to the Lord for it - just as sure as we are reading this. Sobering. Jesus said by our words we will be justified, and by our words we will be condemned. These words are written in heaven for eternity.
On the mount of transfiguration, a voice from heaven said "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, hear ye Him" Now, Jesus said of Himself, that He is God. If Jesus is God, which He is, and the Father is NOT God, why did Jesus not just speak for Himself? "I am my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased?" If either Jesus or the Father is not God, answer, which one? Then, explain the presence of the other on the mount. If Jesus only is God, then Jesus decieved the disciples by creating a voice from heaven and leading them to believe the Father was speaking. There is no sin, or deceit, in the Jesus I serve.
Revelation the first three chapters says several times: "He that has an ear, let him hear what THE SPIRIT says to the churches".
Jesus said "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth". Now, if God is Spirit, how can Jesus, or the Father, be God? It is really very simple.
Scripture says Jesus is God. Scripture says the Holy Spirit is God. Scripture says the Father is God. And scripture says God is ONE.
Now, just because our puny, finite minds cannot comprehend or completely understand this, does not make it any less true. Why is it true? Because the Word of God says so.
Any other attempted interpretation only results in confusion. And, we know that scripture says that God is NOT the author of confusion (just a moment while I do a little mental math), yes, ok, if God is not the author of confusion, the serpent must be. In fact, it occurs to me that confusion is a serpentine technique which attempts to overload critical thinking. Hmmm interesting thought.
It is correct that the words 'trinity' and 'rapture' are not found in the Bible. But this observation, if used to dismiss the truths these words represent, assumes that these words are used to support the truths they represent - they are not. They are merely descriptors, used to label and identify two truths of Gods Word - the Truth.
To create confusion in the minds and hearts of God’s children is a terrible offense against Christ. Jesus said: “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones WHO BELIEVE IN ME (the primary application and meaning of Jesus here, are new or weak Christians, babes in Christ), it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and that he were drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe unto the world because of offenses! For it must needs be that offenses come; but woe unto that man (false teacher, wolf in sheep’s clothing, who offends the faith of babes in Christ - confusion attacks faith) by whom they come!” (Matthew 18:6-7).
Wow, that is very sobering. We should always be sure and know what we are talking about before we open our mouths to teach.
Paul said to the Galatians "O foolish Galatians". The word foolish here, actually means IDIOT. So, I suppose it would not be inconsistent with scripture for us to say to someone: "Hey, IDIOT, read your BIBLE". Which is what I recommend that you do. End of discussion.
Sincerely,
Marty
