This is Spunky's Place
The Youngest and Smallest of three eaglets... this little eaglet has lived up to the the term "Spunky"

Spunky was the last egg of three laid this spring in Shepherdstown W. Virginia.

According to the BLOG, it was a cold and windy Thursday and the closed circuit TV watched by NCTC staff inside confirmed while both adults were active that there were in FACT 3 hatched eaglets.

We can confirm that the third egg hatched. We just watched carefully on our closed circuit when both adults were active and there are three eaglets

The BLOG for March 28 verifies once again that "the youngest eaglet is really there and doing ok, at least right now. The adults have figured that if they stuff the oldest and most aggressive eaglet until it is so full it can't move, it cannot interfere with the feeding of the other two siblings. that's what they did this afternoon.

Remember that mortality rates among eaglets is 50percent, so we have a ways to go to have three healthy birds."...Steve

Liberty and Belle begin to show us all what wonderful parents our eaglets have. All three are growing well. Notice the abundance of food at the nest brought by Dad while Mom tents during a soaking rain to keep the eaglets dry.
