Education:
Each general meeting includes an educational program to encourage members' growth in writing skills.
Our educational programs take a variety of forms:
- writers' conference audio tapes
- "how to" video series for writers
- a hands-on writer's workbook on a variety of writing forms
- a brief, interesting instruction followed by a hands-on writing
exercise
- speakers with a personal "how to" message
- member reports of recently attended conferences, workshops or seminars
Writing News:
We share information about upcoming seminars, workshops, conferences and other events of interest to writers. Some members are quite active in
taking part in these activities to pump up their writing skills and launch into new genres.
We also encourage each other with suggested markets for stories, poems, novels, skits---what ever we write.
Library:
Word and Pen offers a library full of books, tapes, audio cassettes, and videos of interest to writers. Members may check them out for one month's use.
Critique groups:
Members may participate in one of our critique groups.
We meet the fourth Monday night of each month (see calendar of events).
