The Armor of God
Ephesians 6:10 - Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil..
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]..
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;.
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;.
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked..
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:.
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Lets look at what the Armor Of God means
verse 10 - The command to be strong is literally be strengthened or be empowered. It is God who gives us strength, and we must be strengthened constantly.
verse 11 - The command to put on the full armor of God calls for action. Putting on the armor is how you take your stand against evil forces. Satan is real and he opposes God and His people.
verse 12 - The spiritual conflict with believers is with the forces of Satan, you must be prepared.
verse 13 - The best way to be prepared for the attacks of Satan is to have on the full armor. Paul mentions several times the requirement to stand. It gives the idea of a soldier in full armor waiting to receive his orders.
verse 14 - To stand firm, with the belt of truth buckled, signified the soldier was prepared for battle. We need the truth of Gods word for dealing with spiritual warfare. We must know and act upon the Bible in order to win the victory with Satan.
The breastplate protects a soldiers vital organs. The breastplate of righteousness refers to the righteousness of Christ we receive when we are saved, and living a righteous life with Christ.
verse 15 - The roman soldiers boots had studded soles, which provided firm footing. The word of God gives us firm footing, we do not have to back down from Satan.
verse 16 - The shield of faith defends you from Satans temptations . When you are tested or overwhelmed with you life, trust God, He will give you victory.
verse 17 - The helmet of salvation is assurance that salvation is Gods gift to us. If you have not received salvation you may get this free gift on my salvation page.
The sword of the spirit is the Word of God. Use Gods words to win victory over Satan and you daily struggles.
verse 18 - We must pray continually as we battle Satan day to day. We must be alert, because Satan is ready to pounce at every opportunity.
In the Spirit reminds us to live in Gods presence so He is able to guide, protect and watch after us.
