Jeremiah's Prayer: I know O Lord, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps. Jeremiah 10:23

Looking back on my life, I see God's directing steps through out my days. My mind goes back 27 years to the day I met Jesus for the first time.

I was a young wife and mother, but most importantly: I was being wooed and courted by the King of Kings Himself. I remember nothing of that day in April of 1977; but the incident at the drug store. Let me tell you of that scene that is forever etched in my mind.

Making my purchases and paying for my goods, my eyes fell to the shelf that held the books. And the only book my eyes could see was the one with the title of "Who is This Man Jesus'. However, I picked up my purchases and walked toward the exit. Immediately I felt a pull to go back and take a second look at the only book my eyes focused intently on. This time I picked it up, read some of the cover and set it back down. Again, making my way to leave; here it was the third time. That gentle pull, that gentle tug on my heart and an overall sense of warmth with a peace and calmness. Caught up in these wonderful feelings and intriqued, I puchased the book and finally was able to leave exit the store.

The rest of the story is a sweet remembrance of my eyes being truly opened for the first time and most importantly my hearts door flung wide open to accept as my Savior, this man called Jesus.

Were my steps directed that day? Without a doubt. The Holy Spirit came into the world of an ordinary wife and mother shopping for her needs and the needs of her family. But Jesus Christ saw my true need. He met me there and proclaimed His Love and saving grace for me.

He directed my steps 27 years ago and is presently still directing my steps. God has used His Word and many books to guide my walk with Him. And by His directing, I am here in a writers group. I believe He has worked through these willing servants, Lois and Joyce, that felt led to form a writers group and He directed their steps. And He answered for me, a hearts cry and passion to tell others about Him through writing. May He also find me a willing and humble servant.

None of us knows what the future holds for our writers group, but we can count on His Holy Spirit to direct our steps as a group and individually. I pray we would give Him our talents that He may use us to reach the lonely, the lost and the searching. Just like the woman at the well, who Jesus answered her deepest needs, I was the woman at the drug store and Jesus met my deepest needs. And it was done through someone who had a passion to write and let the world know this man called Jesus.

Dear Lord,
You are more than sufficient to meet our needs. We humbly ask You to direct Lighthouse Christian Writers. We ask You to inspire our hearts to give us the words You would have us say. Bless each one and let us bring praise and honor to Your name through our writing.
Amen!
