Lighthouse Christian Writers celebrated their one year anniversary on May 21 with a marketing workshop at Oconto Gospel Chapel, 251 Michigan Avenue, Oconto. Coffee and registration started at 9:30 and the workshops began at 10 and ran until about 4 p.m.. We took a free will offering to cover seminar and gas expenses for our speaker. Margaret Houk, a freelance inspirational and religious writer from Appleton, spoke on marketing. Her presentation was entitled "Spreading Your Message." Mrs. Houk is the author of five books and is published in over 700 publications. She has taught this seminar at the technical college in the Appleton area. There was an author's table with books by Mrs. Houk; and Beth Ziarnik of Oshkosh, the speaker at last year's formation meeting. A display and freebie table was available showcasing works of Lighthouse members, several of whom are published for the first time since joining the group. Lighthouse Christian Writers held its formation meeting in Peshtigo May 22, 2004. The group started with three charter members, and has grown to ten members.
