May 9th and 10th, 2009Our meeting was a special time in retreat at Linda's house. Five members stayed over night on Friday. Saturday morning, after breakfast, we sang songs of praise. Sue wrote and read a relevant devotion. For our main feature, we heard Kathleen Marsh explain to us how to write memoirs. She inspired us in telling us why, and how to write and what not to include in our memoirs. Never show the bad lifestyle of a relative or immediate family member. Do not magnify the negative. Bring out positive happy memories. Talk about what the world was like at the time of writing. Your great grand children, will love to know about your life.
We have had a busy five years. Peggy and Lois are the two charter members, still helping each other in guiding, with God's help, which direction He wants it to go. We scheduled a seminar on our first anniversary in 2005. We gained Mary as a member that year.
In 2007, our second seminar, Linda and George came aboard to join us. In January of 2008, we began meeting at Linda's house in Klondike and it's been a delightful growing experience.
Our goal for this year is to make more effort at publishing what we write. We learned this year, that publishing means, it does not have to be in a book. We have all had our poems published in area county papers, thanks to Mary, our Publicity chairperson. As we share verbally, in care centers or in churches, it's all apart of being published, for the glory of God.
Lois is still facilitator. God is still our director. He blends the themes of our prompts that we could never plan.
Where will we be in five years? Maybe we will have a new facilitator. Maybe we will have more members. Maybe we will have more to write about. I sure hope so.
