Greetings, LPM Family in the name of our wonderful Lord & Savior
Jesus Christ.
First of all this month, I want to thank everybody for praying for
Evelyn's knee surgery. She had her first one replaced on June 23rd
and everything went very well. She is going through therapy and
progressing quickly. She will have the other knee replaced in late
August or September. The Lord has truly been good to her.
In prison ministry news, I have been sharing some messages on
developing as a man of God. I spoke at a men's retreat in June and
developed a teaching on growing in the faith to the point that God
can use us to further his kingdom. In 2nd Timothy 2, Paul mentions
to Timothy some key points on committing the gospel to the coming
generations. The first point Paul mentions is hearing. Paul says the
things that you have heard me say. Timothy had spent time with Paul
hearing the truth. The gospel message had been clearly, correctly
imparted to him. That brings us to a very important point. It
matters who you are connected with and listening to. We are
instructed to pray for everyone, but we are not instructed to get
our doctrine from everyone. It is important where we go to church
and it matters who we listen to. I could not sit in a church where
they do not believe the bible or values that I hold. We are
instructed by Jesus to take heed be careful what you hear.
Then Paul mentions in 2nd Timothy 2, Timothy was to commit what he
had heard to reliable men. This simply means men you can rely on. I
have been challenging men with this message. Can God rely on you?
Can He count on you being faithful, obedient and ready for the
mission? An interesting sidebar to this is that Acts 6 and Jethro's
words to Moses in Exodus18. These type of people should be available
in the body around you. Can we find reliable men in our local
churches? Are they being developed by hearing the Word given?
The last thing Paul mentions is that these reliable men should then
be able to take this Word they have heard and teach others the
truth. So then, communicating the gospel truth is meant to be an
ongoing experience in Christian life. This is why we go to prisons
and other Christian opportunities. The Word must be given so hearing
comes and changes men's lives.
Once again I want to thank everybody that prays for Light to the
Prisons and financially supports us. We attempt to be as good
financial stewards as we possibly can be. Over the last month I was
able to pay the car insurance for another year. We saved quite a bit
of money by shopping around. It looks like the prison car is going
to need a little maintenance this month. Overall it has been a very
good car, with years of life left in it. As I have mentioned before,
it is a tough time for ministries over all. If we serve the Lord and
preach His Word, He will always come through. That is a good word
for all of us.
As I close this letter, I want to encourage you with this. God is
not unjust; He will not forget your love and the work you have shown
him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
