Greetings, LPM Family in the name of our wonderful Lord & Savior
Jesus Christ.
I trust that you all have gotten some summer in this year. We
just were blessed with four days of Christian music at Lifest, an
outdoor series of concerts. We camped on the grounds there, so we
really enjoyed it. Along with the inspiring music, there were
several speakers delivering what they felt God was speaking in this
hour. It was an eye opening time of challenge to all who were there.
Statistics that were discussed were staggering. We often hear of the
sex trade industry in places like Thailand, but I was unaware that
here in America there are hundreds a day brought into this terrible
destructive world. The children and youth of today face a world that
is vastly different than the one we faced thirty or forty years ago.
The speakers that I heard were very aggressive in their views of the
need of the church in America to do more for the lost here and
around the world. It was definitely not a time of comfort teachings.
As I listened to the messages, I pondered that somebody who was
offendable would not be happy at these meetings. Then it came to me
that being challenged is a major part of Christianity.
Is this not what the Apostle Paul did in his Epistles? He challenged
people in places like Corinth; Philippi and Thessalonica to remember
that there is a greater cause to live our lives for, while we are
here. It is so easy to get caught up in our own lives and needs. We
can, as Peter warns us, become near sighted. We only see around us
and our little world. I believe that we as Christians are in the
last lap of the race Paul talks about. We need to be pressing
towards the mark, looking heavenward as the curtain begins to close
on the last scene of this age. I feel challenged after these four
days to do more for God than I have done before.
In prison meetings, I started teaching a couple weeks ago on the
rapture. It is good to bring some solid teaching forth on this issue
as there are a lot of different ideas that are thrown around out
there. While we do not know the timing of the rapture for sure, it
is definitely a scripturally based undeniable event. We have to be
ready, because we do not know at what hour our Lord comes. The term
rapture comes from 1 Thessalonians 4:17 where Paul says "We who are
still alive will be caught up." The term caught up here in the Greek
is Harpazo; the Latin is Rappio which translates as rapture in
English. So it is clear that there is a coming rapture of the
saints. It is at that time that we will receive our rewards for
service done for Christ in our lifetimes. We want to hear well done,
thou good and faithful servant. Now is the time to prepare for that
hour, even now the worker draws his wages.
I want to say a big thank you to all who gave last month to help us
continue to take the gospel forth to the inmates. We appreciate it
so much and I know the inmates appreciate it. I am looking forward
to the upcoming meetings at the prisons. God wants prisoners saved
and so do we.
God
Bless
